Favorite Dinosaur Books
Dinosaurs have been around a long time. What I really mean is that, even though they are extinct, their popularity among kids of all ages is still going strong! That is one reason we’ve created this latest Connections Box, RAWRR!. It is a great mix of fun and exploration and play, all while learning about those great, prehistoric beasts. As always, there is a book included in the box, but I’ve compiled a list of some of my other favorites that I wanted to share with you. Each is linked to Amazon, but most are also available at your local bookstore.
Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp - by Carol Diggory Shields and illustrated by Scott Nash; Find out what dinosaurs did for fun in this rhythmic romp through the Jurassic age.
Dinosaurumpus - by Tony Mitton and illustrated by Gay Parker-Rees; The delightful rhyme and whimsical illustrations will make children want to join in the dance while they learn about some of their favorite prehistoric pals
How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight? - by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague; Composed of familiar bedtime routines, where dinosaurs are substituted for humans, your child will enjoy this book before heading to sleep for the night.
Children’s Dinosaur Atlas - by John Malam and illustrated by Katrin Wiehle; This is an interactive atlas filled with maps and stickers and illustrations for your young dinosaur lover.
The Big Book of Dinosaurs - by DK Publishing ; Another beautiful book filled with facts about dinosaurs.
Boy, Were We Wrong About Dinosaurs! - by Kathleen Kudinski and illustrated by S. D. Schindler; This lively book explores how notios are constantly being revised as new information is obtained about dinosaurs.
The Lost Dinosaur Bone - by Mercer Mayer; This time, Little Critter helps to solve a mystery of the missing dinosaur bone.
Dinosaurs Before Dark - by Mary Pope Osborne ; The first in the Magic Treehouse series of books, this is a great read-aloud chapter book for younger kids and one that older children can read themselves.
While there are many more fun books about dinosaurs, these are some of my favorites. What about yours? Do you or your child have a favorite that I need to add to my library?
